On BBC Radio Wales Today

Looking forward to being a guest on Wynne Evans show on BBC Radio Wales today talking about the new Creepy Carmarthen book. I’m scheduled to be on just after the five o’clock news – peak “drive time” listening for those trapped in their cars during the evening commute home. If you are outside the area you can, of course, catch me live-or-later on the BBC iPlayer.

Weird & Wonderful History in Llandeilo

We enjoyed a terrific start to the Llandeilo Literary Festival weekend today with the town bathed in sunshine (and more than a little busier than this photo shows). Many thanks to the forty seven people – and one dog – who turned out for the Weird and Wonderful History Tour. It was great to be joined by such an enthusiastic group of walkers – quite a few of whom picked up copies of the Creepy Carmarthen book at the end of the tour. Back again tomorrow when i will be on stewarding duties upstairs in the Angel.

And Here's the Video

Watch Wales Onlines brilliant video to illustrate their article on Carmarthen’s links with the Jack the Ripper legend. It is one of the stories told in the new Creepy Carmarthen book. Filming was done around the castle and in Castle House, the former Victorian police station. You can watch the video (and doubtless an advert or two) by following this link:

Jack The Ripper

Another terrific write-up on the Creepy Carmarthen book published in today’s Carmarthen Journal. Ian Lewis has done a great job of retelling the story of Mary Jane Kelly, Jack The Ripper’s last known victim, who is believed to have lived in our town during the early years of her life. It is a tale told in the final chapter of the book and focusses on information about her early life told to some of those who knew her well and recounted to journalists in London after her murder.

Author's Notes in the Western Mail

I was away in Leicester over the weekend so I missed Saturday’s copy of the Western Mail which gave “Creepy Carmarthen” a terrific write-up in their Books section. Jenny White managed to cover not only some of the main stories in the text but also my career with the BBC and my performance work with “Strange Tales”. Many thanks, Jenny.

The Creepy Carmarthen Book Is Here

I am an author!! Just taken delivery of my first copy of “Creepy Carmarthen” which goes on sale today. Published by the Gomer Press and retailing at £4.99 the book covers the horrible history of Carmarthen – just the sort of stories I tell on my regular weekly town tours. It has been great fun to write and the team at Gomer have done a wonderful job on the design. At the moment I think it is only on sale via Gomer’s website but I will be popping in to Waterstones and W H Smith’s on a regular basis to push copies to the front of the shelves.
