Tour Details

The Creepy Carmarthen Tour is a unique fusion of local history and magic, combining real events from the town's past with intriguing mind-reading mysteries and extraordinary feats of conjuring.
Explore the darker side of our horrible history as we visit the places where executions were carried out; we hear of riots and rebellion, crimes and criminals, murder trials and executions.

Discover the gruesome way one young man dodged army service; the nastier side of a great war hero; and how the Roundheads punished their rebels.

We also visit the places where the ghosts are said to walk.

Every tour ends in the gloomy cells at Castle House, the town's former Victorian Police Station where notorious criminals were held before being put on trial in the Guildhall.

Spend time in the cells hearing what it was like to be "banged up" in Carmarthen Gaol - and shiver by the steps of the scaffold as new discover how the country’s most notorious highwayman met his end.

And just for fun we conduct a witch trial, putting someone on trial for her life.

The Creepy Carmarthen Tour is suitable for everyone with an enquiring mind and an interest in the past.
But not - as they say - for those of a nervous disposition.

The tour is centred around Castle House (now the tourist information centre) within the grounds of Carmarthen Castle. The building's post code is SA31 1JP. But please note that the walks begin outside the Guildhall which has a different postal code - SA31 1PR.
